Job Description

Learning Systems Business Analyst

 

The position responsibilities include implementation, configuration and support of Saba Learning Management System (LMS).  The candidate must be proficient with Saba LMS and have had a hands-on role configuring and supporting Saba LMS applications to meet business requirements as well as content development standards, troubleshooting and delivery. Understanding of AICC/SCORM protocols, e-learning course development, deployment and troubleshooting is required.  The candidate will work closely with global business clients and IT project team to help implement, configure and manage the LMS platform and coordinate enhancements and changes as specified. He/she must develop a thorough understanding of business processes and associated application systems and apply that understanding to the system.

 

The Analyst will work with Saba, IT and business teams to determine tradeoffs for various solutions due to technical and business constraints, conducting analysis, needs assessments and gap analysis in order to align IT solutions with business requirements.

 

The candidate will work with the Saba to understand key platform operations and ensure system documentation is accurate and up to date.  He/she will work closely with IT infrastructure and Saba to improve local infrastructure & performance of application, maintain action items and distribute to vendor PMs, track defects and create metrics for defect management, capture metrics and usability of application, work with global markets' IT to determine technical readiness for LMS.

 

The candidate will routinely work with the IT team to review and assess application patch and upgrade needs, review server performance data, compile and manage trouble tickets in coordination with IT Support and the software vendor.  The role is intended to provide first level analysis and configuration of application. In addition, the position requires quality assurance and performance testing, and creation and execution of use cases/ test scripts.

 

Required Experience:

Excellent communication skills and the ability to synthesize business and technical info into business requirements and use cases

Experience reviewing and developing test strategies and plans

8-10 years of related technical management / business analysis experience

Recent experience in Web Application Platform development and deployment

Strong background working with n-tier applications

Functional literacy in Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio tools

Hands-on working knowledge of Saba LMS application

Exposure to other LMS learning applications such as Saba Social, Centra

A firm grasp of the AICC/SCORM architecture and debugging tools

Experience with SCORM manifest development

Base understanding of courseware development processes

Saba Publisher (Oracle OLM experience a plus)

Centra

Exposure to SQL and Oracle databases

Exposure to Tomcat, Apache or Websphere Server Technologies

Understanding of n-Tier Architecture

 

B.A. or higher degree in IT or related field.
